Rakie Olufunmilayo Ayola is a distinguished Welsh actress renowned for her versatile performances across television, theater, and film. Born in Cardiff in May 1968 to a Sierra Leonean mother and Nigerian father, she was raised in the Ely area by her mother’s cousin and his wife.

Her artistic journey began at Glan Ely High School, where she immersed herself in various youth theater groups, including the Orbit Youth Theatre and the National Youth Theatre of Wales. Rakie further honed her craft at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, completing a three-year acting diploma.

Ayola's career has been marked by a series of notable achievements. In 2023, she received the esteemed BAFTA Cymru Siân Phillips Award, alongside the BAFTA Cymru Best Actress Award for her role in the BBC1 series The Pact Season 2, where she also served as Executive Producer. Her previous accolades include the BAFTA Best Supporting Actress award in 2021 for her compelling performance in Anthony, a film by Jimmy McGovern.
