Ariel Schulman

Ariel Schulman, born on October 1, 1981, is a prominent American filmmaker celebrated for his collaboration with fellow director Henry Joost. The duo gained widespread recognition with their debut feature documentary, *Catfish*, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, earning both critical acclaim and a national release in the fall of 2010. Their successful partnership continued with the direction of the popular horror sequels *Paranormal Activity 3* and *Paranormal Activity 4*, as well as the engaging thrillers *Nerve* and *Project Power*.

Beyond their film projects, Schulman and Joost served as Executive Producers on the television adaptation of *Catfish*, contributing to its unique storytelling approach. Their creative efforts extend to a range of commercials and short films, including *A Brief History of John Baldessari*, narrated by Tom Waits, which has been featured in over 75 international film festivals. Notably, their 2011 Google advertisement, *Dear Sophie*, was recognized by Time Magazine as the Best Commercial of the Year. They have also collaborated with Vogue Magazine on various short films starring high-profile actors like Lena Dunham, Margot Robbie, and Taylor Swift, collectively garnering more than 5 million views.

Currently, Schulman and Joost are developing several projects, including an adaptation of Edward Abbey's novel *The Monkey Wrench Gang*, with plans to direct and produce alongside Ed Pressman and Gary Burden.
