Alex Rice
Alexandria Rice, a proud member of the Kahnawake First Nation and of Mohawk Aboriginal descent, was born in Quebec but spent much of her formative years in Brooklyn, New York. Immersed in a community of Mohawk ironworkers, she honed her skills as a professional dancer. A pivotal moment in her life occurred during her time in grammar school when she landed a role in an educational video, igniting her passion for acting.
Since then, Rice has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry, gaining widespread recognition for her portrayal of Janet Pete. Her career encompasses a variety of television guest-starring roles, alongside standout performances in several independent films that have garnered critical acclaim. Among her notable works are her acclaimed performances in "Coyote Waits," for which she won the Motion Pictures Award for Best Actress from the American Indian Film Institute in 2003, and "A Thief In Time," earning her the First American Award in 2005 from the First Americans in the Arts Committee.
Through her work, Rice has not only showcased her talent but has also contributed to the visibility of Indigenous stories and voices in mainstream media, making her an influential figure in both film and television.
