Derek Miller
Derek Miller hails from Chicago and has deep roots in the city’s vibrant improv landscape. His journey began in his youth at the Piven Theatre Workshop and Interlochen Arts Camp, where he honed his skills. He later pursued higher education at Indiana University, where he co-established the improv group Full Frontal Comedy, all while studying at esteemed institutions like Second City and iO (previously known as Improv Olympic).
For more than 15 years, Derek has been a prominent figure in the Los Angeles improv scene, actively performing and sharing his expertise as a teacher. He has taken the stage at iO West for over 650 performances with the show Opening Night: The Improvised Musical!
In 2008, following a tour with Second City at Sea, Derek secured a role in MTV's series "The Hills: According to Me," where he portrayed more than 20 characters. The following year, he appeared in the Comedy Central show "Secret Girlfriend" as Phil and contributed as a consulting writer.
In 2012, Derek landed a role in TBS's hour-long comedy "Wedding Band," where he played Barry, the drummer of the band—a position he took on despite having no prior experience with the instrument.
