Frances Ruffelle
Frances Ruffelle, an accomplished English musical theatre actress and vocalist, was born on August 29, 1965. She gained international acclaim when she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 1987 for her portrayal of Éponine in the original English-language productions of Les Misérables, both in the West End and on Broadway. Her career took flight in 1984 when she played Dinah in the inaugural West End staging of Starlight Express.
In addition to her stage triumphs, Ruffelle represented the United Kingdom in the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with her song "Lonely Symphony (We Will Be Free)," which achieved a respectable 10th place and reached the UK Top 30 charts.
Ruffelle's impressive repertoire includes notable roles such as Yonah in Children of Eden (1991), the iconic Roxie Hart in Chicago during various runs (2003–04, 2007), the title character in Piaf (2013), Bella in The A–Z of Mrs P (2014), and Queenie in The Wild Party.
