Marika Rivera
Marika Rivera (November 13, 1919 – January 14, 2010) was a talented actress and dancer born in France. She was the child of renowned Mexican muralist Diego Rivera and his mistress, Russian artist Marie Vorobieff, known as Marevna. Due to Diego's refusal to acknowledge her, Marika was raised solely by her mother. From an early age, she was immersed in the arts, starting her dance education with the legendary Isadora Duncan at just three years old. By five, she had begun her career as a dancer.
In 1938, Marika married painter Jean Paul Brusset, and the couple welcomed their son, Jean Brusset, in 1941. After their marriage ended, she wed Rodney Phillips in 1949, who was notable for owning Athelhampton House in Dorset, England. During this period, she gave birth to her second son, David Phillips, in 1949, who later became the father of actor Jon Paul Phillips.
After her divorce from Phillips in 1957, Marika settled in Ealing, Greater London, where she continued to pursue her passion for the performing arts. Throughout her life, Rivera demonstrated a remarkable dedication to her craft, leaving behind a legacy as an accomplished figure in both stage and film. Her journey is a testament to her resilience and commitment to the arts, reflecting her rich heritage and diverse experiences.
