3 titles Acting May 26, 1925 Died: Feb 25, 2013 Pinar del Río, Cuba

Carmen Montejo, originally named María Teresa Sánchez González, was a celebrated Cuban actress whose career spanned radio, film, and theater during Mexico's Golden Age of Cinema. Born on May 26, 1925, she began her artistic journey at the tender age of six, performing on the Cuban radio show *Abuelita Cata*. Due to her golden curls, she earned the nickname "Muñeca" Sánchez, likened to a Cuban Shirley Temple.

After initiating her acting education at the Universidad de La Habana in 1939 under the guidance of Ludwing Shayovich, Montejo opted for a brief stay in Mexico instead of a trip to the United States, where she quickly secured a role in the radionovela *El diario de Susana Galván*. Her film debut came in 1943 with *Resurrección*, directed by Gilberto Martínez Solares. It was during this time that she adopted the stage name "Carmen Montejo," inspired by her residence near Hotel Montejo.

Montejo's talents extended to Venezuela, where she starred in one of the country’s early films, *Páramo* (1954). Notably, she played the role of Adela in a 1946 production of Federico García Lorca's *The House of Bernarda Alba* at the prestigious Palacio de Bellas Artes. Throughout the 1980s, she made her mark on television, appearing in numerous telenovelas and the sitcom *Tres Generaciones* alongside Angélica María and Sasha Sokol.

In recognition of her extensive contributions to the performing arts, Carmen Montejo was honored with induction into the Paseo de las Luminarias. She passed away on February 25, 2013, in Mexico City at the age of 87, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in Latin American entertainment.
