Ruby Myers

Ruby Myers, who lived from 1907 until October 10, 1983, is widely recognized by her stage name Sulochana. She was a prominent Indian actress and film producer of Jewish descent, belonging to the Baghdadi Jewish community in India. As one of the highest-paid stars of the 1920s, she carved out a significant niche for herself as one of the pioneering Eurasian actresses in Indian cinema.

In the mid-1930s, Sulochana established her own film production company, Rubi Pics, further solidifying her impact on the industry. Among her notable works are the acclaimed films Typist Girl (1926), Balidaan (1927), and Wildcat of Bombay (1927), each showcasing her talent and versatility.

In recognition of her extensive contributions to Indian cinema, she was honored with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1973, a testament to her enduring influence and legacy in the film industry.
