Drew Brees, born on January 15, 1979, as Andrew Christopher Brees, is a retired American football quarterback best known for his remarkable tenure with the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. Brees laid the foundation for his illustrious career at Purdue University, where he emerged as one of the most celebrated athletes in both Purdue and Big Ten history. During his college years, he shattered two NCAA records, as well as 13 records in the Big Ten and 19 at Purdue, holding significant milestones in passing, including completions (1,026), attempts (1,678), and yards (11,792).

Selected by the San Diego Chargers as the 32nd overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, Brees quickly made his mark, securing the starting quarterback position in 2002 and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2004. Following a severe shoulder injury that required extensive rehabilitation, he signed with the Saints in 2006. Brees revitalized the franchise, leading New Orleans to its first-ever Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl XLIV, defeating the Indianapolis Colts with a score of 31–17.
