Steve Hansen
Steve Hansen, a prominent figure in the world of rugby, has made an indelible mark as the Head Coach of the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. His illustrious career has been decorated with numerous accolades, including being named World Rugby Coach of the Year four times, spanning from 2012 to 2014 and again in 2016. Hansen was also honored with the Sport New Zealand Leadership Award in 2018.
Under his guidance, the All Blacks achieved remarkable feats, including their historic back-to-back victories at the Rugby World Cup in 2015. Hansen orchestrated a groundbreaking 'perfect season' in 2013, where the team triumphed in all 14 of their international matches. This success continued in 2014, with victories in the Steinlager Series against England and a third consecutive Investec Rugby Championship, culminating in a successful year-end Northern Tour.
Hansen's coaching journey began in Canterbury, where he secured NPC First Division titles in 1997 and 2001. He also contributed to the Crusaders' success as an assistant coach during their championship runs in 1999 and 2000. His international coaching experience includes leading Wales through 29 Tests between 2002 and 2004, reaching the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup in 2003. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the All Blacks’ coaching staff that clinched the Rugby World Cup in 2011. Alongside Assistant Head Coach Ian Foster and former All Black Grant Fox, Hansen continues to serve as an All Blacks selector, contributing to the future of New Zealand rugby.
