Ángel Fernández Franco, widely recognized as El Torete or El Trompetilla, was a Spanish actor and former criminal who gained prominence through his roles in the cult classic "Perros callejeros" trilogy. Transitioning from a life of crime to the silver screen, El Torete became a defining figure in the quinqui film genre, which depicted the gritty realities of street life. His collaboration with director José Antonio de la Loma marked the pinnacle of his acting career, where his performances infused these films with a raw intensity that transcended mere entertainment.

His breakthrough came in 1977 with the release of "Perros callejeros," followed by its sequels, "Perros callejeros II" in 1979 and "Los últimos golpes de El Torete" in 1980. These films not only captivated audiences but also showcased the talents of his brother, Basilio Fernández Franco, who starred alongside him until his untimely death in 1995. The trilogy featured memorable musical contributions from rumba bands such as Los Chichos, Los Chunguitos, and Bordón 4, the latter of which honored El Torete with the song "Al Torete."

In 1985, he took on a different role in "Yo, el Vaquilla," portraying the lawyer of the titular character. Sadly, Ángel Fernández Franco passed away in 1991 due to complications from AIDS, leaving behind a legacy that continues to resonate in Spanish cinema. He is interred at the Montjuïc Cemetery in Barcelona.
