Jeffrey Jones
Jeffrey Duncan Jones, born on September 28, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, is a distinguished American character actor recognized for his memorable performances in both film and theater. He gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Emperor Joseph II in the Oscar-winning film *Amadeus* (1984), and his iconic roles as Edward R. Rooney in *Ferris Bueller's Day Off* (1986) and Charles Deetz in *Beetlejuice* (1988) solidified his status in Hollywood. Additionally, his performances as Dr. Skip Tyler in *The Hunt for Red October* (1990) and Eddie Barzoon in *The Devil's Advocate* (1997) showcased his versatility. Jones also reprised his role as A. W. Merrick in the acclaimed series *Deadwood* (2004–2006) and its subsequent film *Deadwood: The Movie* (2019).
His educational background includes training at the Putney School, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and Lawrence University. Jones began his professional journey in the 1970s, initially taking on minor roles in film and television before rising to prominence. He has also made significant contributions to the stage, earning two Tony Award nominations for his performances in *The Crucible* (1988) and *The Secret Garden* (1991).
