Priya Rajvansh
Priya Rajvansh (1937 – 27 March 2000), originally named Vera Sunder Singh, was a distinguished Indian actress celebrated for her impactful roles in Hindi cinema. Among her most notable performances are in films such as *Heer Raanjha* (1970) and *Hanste Zakhm* (1973), which showcase her remarkable talent despite a relatively brief film career.
Born in Shimla, Priya was the daughter of Sunder Singh, a Conservator in the Forest Department. She spent her formative years in the picturesque hills of Shimla alongside her brothers, Kamaljit Singh and Padamjit Singh. Priya attended Auckland House, where she was the school captain, and later the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Shimla. She graduated from St. Bede's College in 1953, during which she developed her passion for acting by participating in English plays at the renowned Gaiety Theatre in Shimla.
Following her graduation, Priya's father undertook a UN assignment, which led her to pursue further education at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. Her time at RADA honed her skills and prepared her for a career in acting, allowing her to leave an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Despite a limited filmography, her contributions to the industry remain significant, and her legacy endures in the hearts of her fans.
