Wei Ping-ao
Wei Ping-ao (Chinese: 魏平澳; 29 November 1929 – 3 December 1989), also recognized as Paul Wei, was a notable actor from Hong Kong who made his mark in the film industry through his work at Shaw Brothers Studio. He gained widespread recognition for portraying shrewd interpreters in iconic Bruce Lee films, particularly in "Fist of Fury" and "Way of the Dragon," both released in 1972, where he lent his own voice to his characters. Wei's filmography also includes appearances in several other memorable productions, such as "Deaf Mute Heroine" (1971), "Hapkido" (1972), and "Fists of Bruce Lee" (1978).
In his later years, Wei faced health challenges, particularly battling jaundice. Despite these struggles, his contributions to cinema remained significant, and his performances left a lasting impression on audiences. Wei Ping-ao passed away on December 3, 1989, in Hong Kong, leaving behind a legacy as a talented actor who played a pivotal role in the martial arts film genre during its golden age.
