Jairo, whose real name is Mario Rubén González Pierotti, was born on June 16, 1949, in Cruz del Eje, Argentina. He is a distinguished Argentine singer-songwriter and composer known for his extensive repertoire of over 500 songs in Spanish, French, and Italian. His musical journey began in his school days with a band called "The Twisters Boys," where he first performed under the stage name Marito González.

In 1970, alongside a high school friend, Jairo distributed a demo of twelve songs to various music producers, which led to the release of his debut single. His breakthrough came after receiving a job offer from renowned artist Luis Aguilé, which propelled him to Spain under a distribution agreement with CBS. In 1971, he achieved critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Premio de la Crítica Española and securing second place at the Festival of the Costa del Sol.

Following the political turmoil in Argentina, he went into exile, spending time in Spain and later France. In 1981, he collaborated with the legendary Astor Piazzolla, recording notable pieces like "Milonga del trovador."

Towards the end of Argentina's military dictatorship, Jairo returned to his homeland, performing a landmark concert on Avenida 9 de Julio, captivating an audience of 1.2 million with his rendition of "We Shall Overcome." Throughout his illustrious career, he has shared the stage with many prominent artists, including Mercedes Sosa, Ana Belén, and Lito Vitale, solidifying his place in Latin American music history.
