Larry Reese
Larry Reese, born in 1951 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, grew up in Greeley, Colorado, before relocating to Canada in 1960. By 1966, his family had moved to Dacca, East Pakistan, now known as Bangladesh. During a pivotal trip to Calcutta, he encountered the legendary sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, which greatly influenced his musical journey. Upon returning to Canada in 1968, Larry transitioned to guitar, collaborating with several bands, including Manna and Spiny Norman's Whooppee Band, and touring North America with the Canadian Rock Opera Company in "Jesus Christ Superstar."
Larry's talents shone brightly when he served as the opening act for Procol Harum’s album "Live With the Edmonton Symphony," where he contributed sitar to the track "In Held Twas I." He earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Alberta, later scoring films for the National Film Board of Canada. In 1978, he completed his Master's in Acting at Brandeis University in Massachusetts and returned to Canada to pursue a career in acting and teaching in theater, film, and television.
Throughout his career, Larry has worked alongside industry greats such as Clint Eastwood, Ang Lee, and Heath Ledger. He starred in the Canadian classic "The Hounds of Notre Dame" and produced the award-winning independent film "Naked Frailties." Currently, he leads the Motion Picture Arts Program at Red Deer College, nurturing the next generation of film and television talent. He resides with his family near the picturesque Sylvan Lake.
