Tom Jackson stands out as one of Canada's beloved actors and country folk musicians, as well as a successful entrepreneur. He was born on October 27, 1948, on the One Arrow Reserve in Saskatchewan, Canada, to a Cree mother, Rose, and an English father, Marshall. At the age of seven, his family relocated to Namao, Alberta, and later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba when he was fourteen. During his adolescence, Jackson faced significant challenges, dropping out of high school and living on the streets for seven years. Despite these hardships, he emerged to become one of Canada's most celebrated First Nations artists.

In 1987, Jackson launched the Huron Carole fundraising concerts, which were aimed at supporting the Salvation Army and have since become a cherished annual tradition. His television career includes memorable roles such as Billy Twofeathers on the children's show *Shining Time Station* (1989) and Peter Kenidi in the acclaimed series *North of 60* (1992). In recognition of his contributions to Canadian culture and society, Jackson was appointed to the Order of Canada in January 2000, the nation's highest civilian honor. Additionally, he served as the Chancellor of Trent University from 2009 to 2013, further solidifying his legacy as a significant figure in Canadian arts and community service.
