Max Kestner
Max Kestner (born 1969) carved his path in documentary filmmaking after graduating from the National Film School of Denmark in 1997. He began his career at DR TV, where he directed *Partiet/The Party* (2000) and the earlier series *Supergeil* (1997ā1998). His 2004 film *Rejsen pĆ„ ophavet/Max by Chance* marked a turning point, selected for First Appearance at IDFA Amsterdam and winning the GulDok for Best Short Documentary at CPH:DOX that same year. Three years later, *Verden i Danmark/The World in Denmark* (2007) earned him a Danish Robert Award for Best Short Film, solidifying his reputation for sharp, human-centered storytelling. Beyond his own projects, Kestner shares his expertise as a lecturer at the National Film School of Denmark, shaping the next generation of filmmakers. His work consistently explores identity, society, and chance, blending observational intimacy with narrative precision.
