Jagdeep
Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffry, popularly recognized as Jagdeep, was a celebrated Indian film actor renowned for his exceptional talent in comedic roles. He gained widespread fame for his memorable performance as Soorma Bhopali in the iconic film *Sholay* (1975), and later portrayed notable characters like Gabbar in *Purana Mandir* (1984) and Chief Zabardast in *Tahkhana* (1986). Additionally, he played a hotel receptionist in *Veerana* (1988) and was cast as Salman Khan's father in the cult classic *Andaaz Apna Apna* (1994). Jagdeep also took the helm as a director for the film *Soorma Bhopali*, which revolved around his famed character.
Embarking on his cinematic journey as a child artist, Jagdeep appeared in films such as B.R. Chopra's *Afsana* and K.A. Abbas's *Munna*. His breakthrough into comedic roles began with Bimal Roy's *Do Bigha Zameen*. In addition to his comedic chops, he featured in numerous horror films, especially those produced by the Ramsay Brothers, including hits like *Veerana*, *Tehkhana*, and *Purana Mandir*.
As a proud father, Jagdeep raised Naved Jaffery and Jaaved Jaffrey, both of whom gained fame as hosts of the popular dance show *Boogie Woogie*. Rumors suggested a potential return for him in a sequel to *Andaaz Apna Apna*. His last appearance was in the film *Journey Bombay to Goa*, which did not achieve commercial success.
