Tom Walls

Tom Kirby Walls (February 18, 1883 – November 27, 1949) was a distinguished English actor, producer, and director whose career flourished in the realms of stage and film. Renowned for his engaging performances in the Aldwych farces during the 1920s, Walls left a lasting impact on British comedy.

Beginning his acting journey in 1905, Walls primarily showcased his talent in musical comedies, touring extensively across the British provinces, North America, and Australia, while also performing in the prestigious West End. He became known for portraying humorous character roles, often embodying charming yet mischievous middle-aged men. In 1922, he partnered with fellow comic actor Leslie Henson to manage theatrical productions, achieving notable success with the long-running farce "Tons of Money" in the West End. Following this triumph, Walls produced and directed a series of popular farces at the Aldwych Theatre, many of which enjoyed near-continuous runs throughout the following decade. Alongside co-star Ralph Lynn, he became one of the most beloved figures in British theatre.
