Michael Patrick O'Brien
Michael Patrick O'Brien is a prominent American comedian, writer, and filmmaker, best known for his contributions to the iconic sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. He gained further acclaim as the creator of the NBC comedy series A.P. Bio, which premiered in 2018. Born in Blissfield, Michigan, to Connie and James O’Brien, O'Brien pursued his passion for the arts at the University of Michigan, where he majored in film-video and established a monthly comedy publication called The Anti-Daily.
After graduating, O'Brien relocated to Chicago, where he immersed himself in the vibrant improv scene. He honed his craft by taking classes in improvisation and sketch comedy, ultimately performing with the ensemble The Reckoning from 2001 onwards at iO Chicago. His dedication to the craft led him to train at the prestigious Second City, where he showcased his talent on the mainstage for a year in the production "America: All Better."
