Vic Damone, born Vito Rocco Farinola on June 12, 1928, in New York City, is a renowned American singer and performer. Growing up in a musically inclined family, with a father who was an electrician and a mother who taught piano, Damone was influenced by the legendary Frank Sinatra, which led him to pursue vocal training.

In 1947, Damone's career took off when he signed with Mercury Records, and his debut single, "I Have But One Heart," climbed to #7 on the Billboard charts, closely followed by another hit, "You Do." His early success paved the way for a weekly radio show, Saturday Night Serenade, which debuted in 1948.

In the early 1950s, he transitioned to film, appearing in notable movies such as The Strip and Rich, Young and Pretty in 1951. His service in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 did not hinder his career; he recorded several tracks that were released during his military tenure. After his return, he wed Italian actress Pier Angeli and starred in films like Deep in My Heart and Athena in 1954.
