Andy Irons
Philip Andrew Irons, born on July 24, 1978, and sadly passing on November 2, 2010, was a distinguished professional surfer hailing from Kauai, Hawaii. Growing up on the challenging reefs of the North Shore, Irons developed his surfing skills in an environment known for its formidable waves. His remarkable career is highlighted by three World Surf League titles, which he secured consecutively in 2002, 2003, and 2004.
Irons was also a dominant force in various prestigious surfing competitions, clinching three Quiksilver Pro France titles (2003, 2004, 2005) and two Rip Curl Pro Search titles in 2006 and 2007. Over his career, he amassed an impressive 20 elite tour victories, including four Vans Triple Crown of Surfing titles between 2002 and 2006. Notably, he triumphed at the Billabong Pro in Tahiti on September 3, 2010, showcasing his exceptional talent.
Beyond his competitive success, Irons was committed to nurturing the next generation of surfers, co-hosting the Annual Irons Brothers Pinetrees Classic, a youth surfing contest with his family. In recognition of his contributions to the sport and his local community, the Governor of Hawaii proclaimed February 13 as "Andy Irons Day." Irons remains a unique figure in surfing history, being the only athlete to win a title at every venue on the ASP calendar.
