Suzan Al-Doghachi
Suzan Al-Doghachi is an accomplished filmmaker and editor whose career has spanned multiple countries, including Iraq, Germany, and the United States, with her current focus in Central America. After beginning her journey in the realm of media as an editor for German public television, she relocated to New York City in 1993. There, she immersed herself in the production, direction, and editing of a diverse array of films, including features, shorts, and documentaries.
As a co-founder of both AJAX FILMS and LASSO PRODUCTIONS, Al-Doghachi has played a pivotal role in bringing compelling narratives to the screen. Among her notable achievements is the documentary “The Garifuna – An Enduring Spirit,” for which she received the Manhattan Cultural Council Grant. This impactful work not only aired on Belizean Television but also garnered attention through screenings at the Museo del Barrio in New York City and was featured in a symposium on Garifuna culture at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Additionally, Al-Doghachi contributed her expertise as a juror for the CHICKS WITH FLICKS Film Festival from 2002 to 2006, further highlighting her commitment to promoting women's voices in cinema. Her dynamic career reflects a dedication to storytelling that transcends borders and cultural barriers.
