Frank Simmons Leavitt (June 30, 1891 – May 29, 1953), better known in the wrestling world as Man Mountain Dean, was a prominent American wrestler who gained fame in the early 20th century. Initially facing challenges in his wrestling career, Leavitt transitioned to law enforcement, serving as a police officer in Miami, Florida, where he met his future wife and manager, Doris Dean. In 1932, at her suggestion, he adopted the moniker "Man Mountain" and changed his surname to Dean, a move that would define his wrestling persona. Standing at 5'11" and weighing over 300 pounds, Dean's formidable presence was complemented by his distinctive long beard, making him a memorable figure in the ring.

His career took a significant turn after an impressive wrestling tour in Germany, organized by Doris. This success opened doors for him in the entertainment industry, leading to a role as a stunt double for the acclaimed actor Charles Laughton in the film The Private Life of Henry VIII. Dean's foray into cinema continued with appearances in twelve additional films, five of which featured him portraying himself. Notably, he appeared in the 1938 comedy The Gladiator, based on Philip Gordon Wylie's novel, alongside comedian Joe E. Brown. Throughout his career, Man Mountain Dean left an indelible mark on both wrestling and film, showcasing his talents beyond the ring.
