Born Léontine Ernestine Gauché, Bleuette Bernon was a pioneering French actress in the realm of early cinema. She made her mark in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, featuring in five films directed by the illustrious Georges Méliès, a visionary in the development of narrative filmmaking. The initial films, created prior to 1900, were typically brief and lacked structured plots. However, under Méliès's innovative direction, the potential of fictional storytelling in film began to flourish, and Bernon emerged as one of the first character actors in this new medium.

In 1899, she took on the iconic role of Jeanne d'Arc in Méliès's film of the same name, showcasing her talent in the historical drama genre. That same year, she also portrayed Cinderella in the enchanting Cendrillon. The following year, 1901, saw her in the role of the titular character in Barbe-bleue. In 1902, she made a brief yet memorable appearance as one of the "ladies in the Moon" in Méliès's most celebrated work, A Trip to the Moon. By 1903, she continued to captivate audiences as Aurora in Le Royaume des fées, further solidifying her legacy in the early days of cinema. Bernon's contributions to film history remain significant as she helped shape the art of character portrayal.
