Andrew Droz Palermo
Andrew Droz Palermo, ASC is a prominent American cinematographer, director, and screenwriter recognized for his significant contributions to the film industry. He has made a mark with his cinematography on notable films such as The Green Knight (2021), A Ghost Story (2017), You're Next (2011), and A Teacher (2013). Furthermore, he directed the acclaimed documentaries Rich Hill (2014) and One & Two (2015).
Born in Columbia, Missouri, Palermo spent his formative years in Jefferson City, Missouri. His career is distinguished by frequent collaborations with director David Lowery, where he has served as the cinematographer for The Green Knight, A Ghost Story, and the television series Strange Angel. Additionally, he has partnered with filmmaker Hannah Fidell, working on her projects like The Gathering Squall, Man & Gun, A Teacher, 6 Years, and The Long Dumb Road. His cinematography also includes work on Adam Wingard’s films You're Next and V/H/S, in which he appeared as the character "Fifth Thug" in the segment "Tape 56."
Palermo co-directed the documentary Rich Hill with his cousin Tracy Droz Tragos, which garnered the Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. He directed One & Two, featuring actors Kiernan Shipka and Timothée Chalamet, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2015. In 2023, he was honored with membership in the American Society of Cinematographers.
