2 titles Acting Sep 02, 1947 Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, UK

Lloyd McGuire is a seasoned English actor with a career spanning over 35 years in film and television. Hailing from Birmingham, Warwickshire, he began his journey at Bournville Grammar-Technical School for Boys. In 1964, McGuire took on the role of a Commercial Apprentice at the Austin Motor Company, all the while pursuing a passion for football, playing in King Norton's League and for Alvechurch's second team. However, feeling disenchanted with both his football aspirations and his job, a pivotal moment came after he watched a Michael Caine film, which ignited his ambition to become an actor. With encouragement from his supervisor, he gained admission to drama school.

While initially training for a career as a British Leyland salesman, McGuire pivoted towards acting, becoming involved with the Alvechurch Amateur Dramatic Society and performing at the Crescent Theatre. His formal training continued at the Birmingham College of Speech and Drama.

McGuire is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bob in the beloved Channel 4 series Teachers. His extensive television resume includes notable roles in iconic shows such as Coronation Street, Juliet Bravo, and Midsomer Murders, often portraying law enforcement characters, including Sgt. Calder in Prime Suspect and recurring roles in The Bill. His film credits include playing the Master of Ceremonies in the award-winning Bad Night for the Blues (2010) and Martin Shell in the third series of Sky One's Trollied (2013).

On stage, McGuire has performed across Scotland and at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, later joining the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company with performances at the Aldwych Theatre and in New York's Richard II.
