Chris D., whose real name is Chris Desjardins, is a multifaceted artist known for his contributions to punk music, literature, and film. He gained prominence as the lead vocalist and founder of The Flesh Eaters, a pioneering band in the Los Angeles punk and deathrock scene. In 1977, while serving as a feature writer for Slash magazine, Desjardins collaborated with friends from the vibrant punk community, including Tito Larriva, to create the band.

The Flesh Eaters made a significant impact with their 1981 album, "A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die," which showcased an impressive lineup that included notable musicians such as John Doe, DJ Bonebrake from X, and members of The Blasters. Following this successful debut, they released two more albums: "Forever Came Today" in 1982 and "A Hard Road to Follow" in 1983, featuring a lineup that included Don Kirk on guitar, Robyn Jameson on bass, and Chris Wahl on drums, with Desjardins providing vocals and occasionally enlisting Jill Jordan for backing vocals.
