Siobhan Finneran
Siobhan Margaret Finneran is a notable English actress recognized for her extensive work in both television and film. She began her career with a memorable performance in the 1987 independent film, *Rita, Sue and Bob Too*. Finneran quickly established herself in the television landscape with significant roles in popular series such as *Coronation Street* (1989–1990), *Clocking Off* (2000–2002), and *The Amazing Mrs Pritchard* (2006).
In 2005, she took on a leading role in the acclaimed stage play *On the Shore of the Wide World*, earning the Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Finneran is also well-known for her comedic talent, particularly as Janice Garvey in the ITV sitcom *Benidorm* (2007–2015). Her versatility shines in dramatic roles, including a lawyer in the mini-series *Unforgiven* (2009), a bitter servant in the beloved series *Downton Abbey* (2010–2012), and a recovering addict in the critically acclaimed *Happy Valley* (2014–2023), for which she received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2017.
Finneran's film work includes portraying Mrs. Swift in *The Selfish Giant* (2013), which garnered her a nomination for a British Independent Film Award. Born in Oldham, Greater Manchester, she has been passionate about the performing arts from a young age. In 2023, she became the patron of Contact Hostel, a charity in Manchester dedicated to supporting homeless teenage girls.
