Doug Montoya

1 title Crew

Doug Montoya is a seasoned improv artist with over thirty years of experience in the field. He honed his skills under the guidance of renowned mentors such as Ron Wilson of The Groundlings, and refined his acting techniques with instructors Duke Stroud and Whitney Rydbeck. Doug is a co-founder of The Box, the leading venue for comedy improv in Albuquerque, where he has hosted notable talents including Bob Odenkirk and Kevin McDonald. The improv classes offered at The Box have received high praise and have successfully trained a multitude of aspiring performers in the community.

In addition to his work at The Box, Doug serves as the co-artistic director of Cardboard Playhouse Theatre Company (CPTC), where he takes on a variety of roles including directing, set design, and acting. He is deeply committed to cultivating young artists at CPTC, providing them with opportunities to develop their talents. His inspiration for founding CPTC came from his daughter, Kelsey Leos Montoya, an accomplished actor and filmmaker. Kelsey, who appears in "Third Act," has taken on a leadership role, directing various productions for Cardboard Playhouse. Doug’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of creators continues to leave a lasting impact on the local arts scene.
