DJ Hollywood
DJ Hollywood, born Anthony Holloway on December 10, 1954, is a prominent American MC and disc jockey recognized for his influential role in the music scene. In the late 1970s, he made history by becoming the first DJ to utilize turntables and a mixer for performances at the legendary Apollo Theater, setting a new standard for live DJing. His dynamic style quickly caught the attention of club owners in the South Bronx, leading to his residency at Club 371, where he captivated audiences with his energetic sets.
While much of DJ Hollywood's work was performed live, showcasing his improvisational skills and charisma, he did release a notable single titled "Shock Shock The House" in 1980 under CBS Records. Throughout the early to mid-1980s, he was celebrated as one of the leading DJs in the industry, earning respect and admiration for his contributions to the burgeoning hip-hop and dance music scenes.
