Katherine Kelly

Katherine Kelly is a talented English actress best known for her compelling performance as Becky McDonald on the popular ITV soap opera *Coronation Street* from 2006 to 2012. This role garnered her significant recognition, earning her several accolades including the British Soap Award for Best Actress in 2009 and the National Television Award for Best Serial Drama Performance in 2012.

Following her success on *Coronation Street*, Kelly showcased her versatility in various television series. She portrayed Lady Mae in the period drama *Mr Selfridge* during its run from 2013 to 2014 and returned for its 2016 revival. Her other notable roles include DI Jodie Shackleton in the critically acclaimed series *Happy Valley* (2016), Miss Andrea Quill in *Class* (2016), and DCI Natalie Hobbs in *Criminal: UK* (2019-2020). More recently, she took on the role of Elizabeth Sutherland in *Gentleman Jack* (2019-2022), and she is set to appear as Angela van Den Bogerd in *Mr Bates vs The Post Office* in 2024.

Born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and having spent part of her youth in the United States, Kelly has deep ties to The Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley, founded by her father, John. She is an active supporter of fundraising events for the theatre. After training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where she graduated in 2001, Kelly has established herself as a prominent figure in the acting world.
