Raised in a family with a rich artistic background—his mother, Cheryl Peterson, was a theatre founder and paralegal, while his father, George Kanouse, worked as a teacher—Peterson developed an early interest in the performing arts. He gained further recognition for his recurring role as Nathan Westen, the younger sibling of the lead character in the USA Network series *Burn Notice*, which premiered in 2007. Additionally, he starred in the independent film *Hate Crime* (2005) and appeared in Hallmark's *Hard Ground* (2003), where he played the son of Burt Reynolds. Outside of his acting career, Peterson is married to actress Kylee Cochran, and together they have two children. The couple made a memorable appearance in *Burn Notice*, where Peterson reprised his role as Nate Westen alongside Cochran's character. A collector of 1950s memorabilia and James Bond films, he has a passion for basketball, chess, swimming, and playing the guitar, while also being a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. Before fully immersing himself in acting, he balanced part-time jobs, including work in a bank's Human Resources department.
