Gemma Craven

Rita Gemma Craven (née Gabriel), born on June 1, 1950, is a celebrated Irish actress known for her impressive contributions to theatre and film. Born in Dublin to Gabriel, a bus conductor, and Lillian, a music hall dancer and comedienne, Gemma displayed her talent early on, winning a singing competition at just three years old with her rendition of "Out of my Heart" at the Marymont Hall.

At the age of nine, she relocated with her family to Westcliff-on-Sea, where her father took a job on the Ford production line. Gemma's professional journey began at the Little Theatre, where she performed in 'The Flower Drum Song.' Shortly thereafter, she secured a full-time position as an Assistant Stage Manager at the Palace Theatre in Westcliff, which marked a significant step in her career. Her first major role came in 1960 when she starred in a production of 'Cinderella.'
