Kambuzia Partovi, also known as Kambozia Partovi (Persian: کامبوزیا پرتوی), was an influential Iranian film director and screenwriter born on November 11, 1955, in Rasht, a city by the Caspian Sea. After completing his education in theater arts, he began his career by crafting scripts for various television series. His directorial debut came in 1988 with the film "Golnar," marking the start of a prolific career in cinema.

Partovi gained international recognition with his 2007 film "Café Transit," which not only earned a special mention at the Mar del Plata Film Festival but was also chosen by Iran as its entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In addition to his directorial work, he contributed significantly as a screenwriter, notably for Jafar Panahi’s critically acclaimed film "The Circle." His collaboration with Panahi continued in 2013 when he co-directed and acted in "Closed Curtain."

Beyond his own projects, Partovi was a mentor to numerous Iranian filmmakers and artists, including the renowned Bahman Ghobadi. His commitment to nurturing talent in the film industry left a lasting impact. Tragically, Kambuzia Partovi passed away on November 24, 2020, due to complications related to COVID-19, leaving behind a rich legacy in Iranian cinema.
