Carlos Ponce
Carlos Ponce, a multifaceted Puerto Rican talent, has made significant contributions as an actor, singer, composer, and television personality. Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, he is the son of Cuban immigrants Carlos Ponce, Sr. and Esther Freyre, who relocated to the island following the Cuban Revolution. After his birth, the family settled in Humacao, where Ponce's passion for the performing arts began to flourish. He frequently participated in school plays and delighted his family with impromptu performances of popular songs.
At just six years old, he started appearing in television commercials. Ponce continued to hone his craft in high school, becoming an active member of the drama club. In 1986, the Ponce family moved to Miami, Florida, where he continued to excel in theater and was recognized as the best student actor in the southern United States.
In 1990, he gained further recognition by participating in the Southeastern Theatre Conference, where he won a scholarship to the New World School of the Arts. However, a pivotal moment in his career arose when he was offered a hosting role on Univision's show "Hablando." This opportunity marked his official entry into the television industry, leading him to forgo his university studies to pursue his burgeoning career in entertainment. Ponce has since become a prominent figure in Latin American media, known for his dynamic performances and engaging presence.
