Helga Liné
Helga Liné, originally named Helga Lina Stern, was born on July 14, 1932, in Berlin, Germany. As World War II unfolded and the Nazi regime intensified its persecution of Jews, Liné became one of the many child refugees who sought safety by fleeing to Portugal. While in Portugal, she showcased her talents as a circus acrobat, contortionist, and dancer. Her journey in the entertainment industry began to flourish after she won a beauty contest, leading her to secure film roles as a teenager and young adult. However, it was her move to Madrid in 1960 that truly marked the beginning of her prolific career.
Between 1960 and 2006, Liné appeared in over 100 films across various European countries. She navigated through a diverse array of genres, including peplum films, spaghetti westerns, and Euro-spy thrillers. Nonetheless, she gained particular recognition for her contributions to the horror genre, where she shared the screen with iconic figures such as Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Barbara Steele, and Paul Naschy. Additionally, Liné made notable appearances in films directed by Pedro Almodóvar, further solidifying her legacy in the cinematic landscape. Her remarkable journey from a refugee to a celebrated actress remains an inspiring testament to her resilience and talent.
