Chester Thompson

Chester Cortez Thompson is a distinguished American musician renowned for his exceptional skills as a drummer, percussionist, session musician, producer, and educator. His career took off in the 1970s when he collaborated with the iconic Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention between 1973 and 1975, showcasing his intricate drumming techniques and unique style.

Thompson gained further acclaim as a member of the legendary progressive rock band Genesis, where he contributed his talents from 1977 until 1992, and made a return in 2007. His work with Genesis solidified his reputation in the music industry, as he played on numerous albums and participated in extensive world tours, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances.

In addition to his work with these influential bands, Thompson is also the founder of the Chester Thompson Trio, a jazz ensemble he established in 2011. Through this group, he continues to explore and express his musical creativity.
