Eugene O'Hare
Eugene O'Hare is a distinguished Irish actor, playwright, and screenwriter known for his compelling performances across various platforms, including HBO, Netflix, BBC, Starz, and Sony. He made his Broadway debut at the young age of 24 and has collaborated with prominent directors such as Sam Mendes, Ridley Scott, and the late Victoria Wood.
In the upcoming seasons of Outlander (2022/23), O'Hare takes on the role of Governor Martin, further showcasing his versatility. His performance in True West garnered praise from its author, Sam Shepard, during the final British revival before Shepard's passing.
O'Hare is recognized for his portrayal of Magennis in Jez Butterworth's acclaimed play The Ferryman, directed by Mendes in 2017. His American stage career began on Broadway, where he played the son of Colm Meaney in the classic A Moon for the Misbegotten. He later returned to New York to star as Pierre in Lolita Chakrabarti's award-winning debut play, Red Velvet.
A prolific figure in the theatre scene, O'Hare has performed at esteemed venues like the National Theatre in London, the Royal Court, Shakespeare's Globe, and The Old Vic. His plays published by Methuen have received widespread acclaim, with his latest work, Sydney & the Old Girl, featuring the talented Miriam Margolyes. In 2018, the BBC commissioned his first project as a screenwriter, The Music Room, showcasing the Ulster Orchestra.
