He honed his craft at the prestigious School at Steppenwolf, studying under acclaimed mentors including Amy Morton, Tarell Alvin McCraney, and Michael Patrick Thornton. In 2016, Cole garnered attention when Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune recognized him among the "Hot New Faces of Chicago Theater."
