Giovannie Cruz was born on an American military base in Wuerzburg, Germany, to parents hailing from Puerto Rico. Her family later moved to Texas, where she spent her formative years and pursued her passion for music at the University of North Texas College of Music, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Opera & Early Music.

Cruz has built an impressive career in the entertainment industry, spanning film, television, and voice acting. She has lent her talents to Sony's FUNimation Productions (now Crunchyroll Productions) as a voice actor and music director. In 2019, she starred in two major Warner Bros. films: "The Suicide Squad," directed by James Gunn, and "Reminiscence," helmed by Lisa Joy-Nolan, sharing the screen with Hugh Jackman.

Her television credits include notable series such as "Queen of the South," "Queen Sugar," and "NCIS: New Orleans." During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cruz was fortunate to collaborate with James Gunn again on "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3" and the "Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special."
