Lydia Kandou is a prominent Indonesian actress and model known for her extensive work in the film and television industry. She made her cinematic debut at the age of 16 in Has Manan's "Wanita Segala Zaman" in 1979. Over the next five years, she appeared in more than 20 films, earning her first nomination for the Citra Award for Best Leading Actress at the 1984 Indonesian Film Festival. Between 1985 and 1990, Kandou continued to shine, featuring in ten additional films that garnered her two more Citra Award nominations.

Her career reached a significant milestone in 1990 when she starred in "Boneka dari Indiana," a performance that earned her the coveted Citra Award. The following year, she solidified her status in the industry with another award for her role in "Ramadhan dan Ramona." As the Indonesian film industry faced challenges in the early 1990s, Kandou transitioned to television, becoming a household name. From 1993, she was a key figure in the series "Gara-Gara," before moving on to "Selendang Sutra Biru" in 1997. Her portrayal of Shinta in the popular series "Pernikahan Dini" in 2001 further showcased her talent.

Kandou returned to film in 2004 with roles in "d'Trex" and "Ketika," and she continued to charm audiences in 2011 with her performance in the comedy "Kejarlah Jodoh Kau Kutangkap," which cleverly referenced her earlier successes.
