Michael McElroy
Michael McElroy, a prominent figure in the theatre world, hails from Shaker Heights, Ohio. After completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University, he relocated to New York City in May 1990. McElroy made his Broadway debut in "The High Rollers Social and Pleasure Club" and has since graced numerous stages, both on and off Broadway. His notable performances earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role in "Big River" in 2004. He has also received Drama Desk Award nominations for his outstanding work in "Violet" and "Big River."
In 1995, he was part of the world premiere of John Adams' opera "I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky," performed in Berkeley, California. In addition to his impressive acting career, McElroy is the founder and artistic director of the Broadway Inspirational Voices, a diverse gospel choir composed of Broadway singers that promotes inclusivity and community through music, which he established in 1999. Currently, he imparts his knowledge and passion for the performing arts as an instructor at the New Studio on Broadway at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, shaping the next generation of theatre talent.
