Jean Pierre Reguerraz
Jean-Pierre Reguerraz (1939 – November 2, 2007) was a distinguished Argentine actor celebrated for his resonant bass voice. Born in Buenos Aires to French parents, he pursued his acting education in Europe before returning to Argentina in 1960, where he quickly made a name for himself on stage. His performances at Teatro Payro included notable productions such as Marathon, Rayuela, and Ivanov, showcasing his versatility and talent.
Over his career, Reguerraz appeared in 35 films, predominantly in supporting roles. His performance in the acclaimed 2001 film El Armario garnered significant attention. He further captivated audiences with his role as "Uncle Eduardo," a morally ambiguous lawyer in the 2006 film Family Law, which was submitted for the Academy Awards. Critic Ty Burr of The Boston Globe praised Reguerraz's performance, noting that it added considerable depth to the film. Other noteworthy appearances included roles in El Amor y la ciudad (2006) and Garage Olimpo (1999), where he portrayed "Juan Carlos." His final on-screen performance was in Luisa, filmed shortly before his passing.
Reguerraz passed away at the age of 68 on November 2, 2007, following a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of impactful performances and contributions to Argentine cinema and theater.
