Sidy Diop
Sidy Diop was born in March 1975 in Dakar, Senegal, but spent his formative years in New York City. At 18, he ventured into the Bronx, driven by a mix of curiosity and ambition as he pursued his dreams in the vibrant streets of New York. Shortly thereafter, he secured a position as a salesman in prominent Soho shops, which helped him launch a modeling career. After a few years in that field, he shifted his focus to acting, enrolling at Wiest Barron Acting School where he studied under esteemed coaches such as David Shuman and Batt Johnson.
After gaining experience and honing his craft, Sidy decided to relocate to Rome, Italy, where he embarked on a flourishing career as a professional actor in both theater and film. He gained recognition for his role as "Bernardino" in William Shakespeare's "Measure For Measure," directed by Gabriele Lavia. His film debut came when he played "Dada" in "La Vita È Una Cosa Meravigliosa," directed by Carlo Vanzina. Additionally, he is well-known for his portrayal of "Tokumbo" in "Gomorrah the Series," directed by Stefano Solima. Through persistent auditions, Sidy has collaborated with notable directors such as Carlo and Enrico Vanzina, Leonardo Pieraccioni, Alessandro Piva, and the Manetti Bros. Currently, he divides his time between Rome and Dakar, where he is involved in acting and directing for both film and theater.
