William Ragsdale
William Ragsdale, originally named Robert William Ragsdale, is a notable American actor recognized for his versatile roles across film and television. He completed his education at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where he majored in religion and humanities. Following his graduation, his parents gifted him the opportunity to attend the Drama Studio London’s American school in Berkeley, California, further honing his acting skills.
Ragsdale gained fame for his portrayal of Charley Brewster, a teenage vampire slayer in the cult horror film "Fright Night." His talent also shone onstage, particularly in Neil Simon's celebrated plays, "Biloxi Blues" and "Brighton Beach Memoirs," both part of Simon's acclaimed trilogy that concludes with "Broadway Bound."
In the realm of film, he starred in the romantic comedy "Mannequin Two: On the Move" (1991). Ragsdale's television career includes a prominent role as Herman Brooks on the sitcom "Herman's Head," which aired for three years. He also appeared as Rob Fields on the single-season series "Grosse Pointe," and had a notable guest role on "Ellen" as Ellen Morgan's boyfriend prior to her character's coming out.
His extensive television work features multiple guest appearances and multi-episode arcs on series such as "Less Than Perfect," "Necessary Roughness," "Mistresses," and "Younger."
