Kristiina Ehin
Kristiina Ehin, born on July 18, 1977, is a multifaceted Estonian artist renowned for her contributions as a poet, translator, singer, and songwriter. She pursued her education at the University of Tartu, where she focused on philology with a strong emphasis on folklore. Ehin earned her master's degree in 2004, presenting a thesis titled "The Possibilities for Interpretation of the Oldest and Newer Lied of Estonia in the Female-Religious Perspective." Her career in education includes teaching at Vodja school, where she shared her passion for literature and folklore.
As a performer, Ehin has been part of the ensemble Sinimaniseele and has been singing with Naised Köögis (Women in the Kitchen) since 2012, alongside fellow artists Katrin Laidre, Sofia Joons, and Kairi Leivo. A significant highlight of her career was representing Estonia at Poetry Parnassus during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, showcasing her poetic talents on an international stage.
From 2015 to 2016, Ehin served as a Professor of Liberal Arts at her alma mater, the University of Tartu, influencing a new generation of students. She is the daughter of Andres Ehin and Ly Seppel and has a son, Hannes, with her husband, musician Silver Sepp, with whom she welcomed a daughter, Luike, in 2016. Ehin is also known for her dedication to the Estonian native faith, Maausk.
