Sapna Bhavnani is a trailblazing entrepreneur and multifaceted artist who has made significant contributions to the cultural landscape of India. Sixteen years ago, she established the hair salon Mad O Wot in Mumbai, revolutionizing the way young Indians perceive beauty and self-expression. Alongside her successful salon, Sapna has authored an insightful self-help book for teenage girls, "Style O Wot," and penned a candid weekly column for a prominent publication.
Her creative ventures extend beyond writing; she launched the innovative clothing line "So Fake" and showcased her acting talent in the powerful play NIRBHAYA, which addresses the critical issues of sexual and gender-based violence in India. Sapna’s artistic journey is marked by a seamless blend of mainstream success and deep engagement with the underground youth art scene.
She gained widespread recognition as the Producer/Director of the award-winning documentary "Sindhustan," which premiered in 2019. This feature-length film, depicting the largest cultural migration in history through the tattoos on her body, has earned nine awards and has been showcased at 21 film festivals. It is currently available for streaming on platforms such as Amazon Prime and Movie Saints.
In July 2020, she founded Wench Films, a production company aimed at highlighting emerging talent from India on the global stage. Currently, Sapna is in post-production for her feature film "My Dog IS Sick" and is working on a book titled "Chapter One" for Harper Collins.
