John Hoffman

John Robert Hoffman is a multifaceted American actor, screenwriter, director, and producer known for his diverse contributions to film and television. He first gained recognition for his work on the Disney Channel original movie *Northern Lights* in 1997, where he not only acted but also penned the screenplay.

Hoffman's feature film directorial debut came with the MGM/Jim Henson Pictures comedy *Good Boy!* in 2003, which he also wrote. The film was a commercial success, debuting at No. 3 at the U.S. box office and accumulating a worldwide gross of $45.3 million against an $18 million budget. His talent for storytelling led to a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award as part of the writing team for the 81st Academy Awards in 2009.

In television, Hoffman has made significant contributions as a writer and producer, notably for the HBO series *Looking* (2014–2015) and the popular Netflix series *Grace and Frankie* (2016–2022). His recent achievement includes co-creating the acclaimed Hulu series *Only Murders in the Building* alongside comedy legend Steve Martin, which premiered in 2021.
